A Two-Night Online Course
A strong picture book captures attention early AND sustains energy and engagement from the first page to the last. Maintaining momentum means making intentional craft choices that invite curiosity, deepen connection, and encourage young readers to keep turning the page. Join picture book author Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen and picture book author and illustrator Anne Appert as they explore how word choice, tension, and visual storytelling work together to move a story forward and keep your readers engaged!
This picture book page turn workshop is made up of two, 75-minute sessions with limited community interaction and a wealth of ideas for creating picture books that engage readers all the way through the book from first page to The End.

What Level of Feedback Can I Expect for My Work?
In this picture book workshop, feedback is not included with the course. Additionally, there will be limited interaction in the chat feature of the webinar-style program.

Picture books are a beloved part of many children’s lives. This workshop is meant to support and inspire you as you craft a picture book for children.
Will The Sessions Be Recorded?
IF YOU CAN’T ATTEND LIVE:
If you are unable to attend either session for any reason, you’ll have access to the recordings (with closed captioning) through November 30, 2026. Please also note that if you register for the course after the start of the first session, you will not receive recordings immediately. You’ll receive both recordings after the close of the last session, usually within 24 hours.
